# AIStoryHub ## What it is AIStoryHub is a free AI writing studio for novelists. Writers bring their own API keys from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or OpenRouter, configure a voice-trained AI partner called Ash, and draft fiction that sounds like they wrote every word. **Website**: https://aistoryhub.co **Pricing**: Free forever. No subscription. Bring your own API key and pay your AI provider directly, usually a few cents per writing session. **Trial**: No trial needed. AIStoryHub is completely free to use. ## Core concept Ash is not a generic chatbot. Writers teach it their voice through style settings (diction, rhythm, pacing, tone, banned words) and Ash carries those settings into every generation. The more a writer uses it, the closer it gets to their actual prose. The platform is sometimes described as "GitHub for writers": scenes, @-references, configuration files, and version history keep a sprawling manuscript consistent across every chapter. The same world bible and continuity engine also work for tabletop RPG campaigns: track NPCs, factions, locations, and lore as world entries, and let Continuity Keeper flag contradictions across session notes the way it does across manuscript chapters, for example "you said this NPC died in session 4, but this line has them speaking in session 9." ## Key features Full reference: https://aistoryhub.co/features.md - **Ash AI writing partner**: Generate PRO drafts a full chapter in one pass, Revise applies targeted instruction-based edits, and Human Grit Pass is an optional humanizing rewrite. Not a generic model default, Ash is shaped by each story's Voiceprint and Story Rules. - **Editorial Pass**: Structured revision notes across pacing, voice, continuity, dialogue, clarity, structure, and characterization, each with a confidence rating. - **Structural audits**: Cohesion Check, Pacing Audit, Tension & Stakes Map, Subplot Tracker, Scene Purpose Audit, Theme Tracker, and Chapter Hooks Audit, run against the full manuscript. - **Character Arcs**: Three-pass, per-character audit of coherence, earned change, and spine integrity, plus Character Quick Add for fast character creation. - **Dialogue and voice checks**: Dialogue Health Check flags characters that start sounding alike; Voice Consistency Check flags register drift chapter to chapter. - **Voiceprint & Style Lab**: Writers create style profiles (33 controls: diction, rhythm, pacing, tone, POV, metaphor density, banned words) in the Style Lab, or extract a profile from pasted writing. A Voiceprint persists across every generation and every story it's applied to. - **Story Rules**: Persistent per-story instructions (genre, tone, POV, banned words) that Ash follows on every generation. - **@-reference system**: Characters, scenes, and world elements can be referenced by name. Ash holds continuity across chapters without being re-briefed. - **Version History**: Every AI action snapshots a version before it's applied. Writers can revert any generation instantly, or branch a scene to explore alternatives without risk. - **Scene and chapter management**: Full manuscript structure, chapters, scenes, characters, locations, lore, species, organizations, items, events, and notes, organized per story. - **BYOK (Bring Your Own Key)**: Supports Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (GPT), Google (Gemini), and OpenRouter. New accounts can also generate immediately with a free built-in model (GLM 5.2) before adding a key. Writers pick the model for each task and watch every dollar in their provider's dashboard. - **Community hub**: Writers can publish stories for feedback, follow other writers, and track beta reader progress. It also hosts two curated, importable galleries: shared Story Rules (reusable AI writing instructions whose {{ }} variables rebind to the story they're imported into) and shared Writing Styles (voice profiles of 30-plus numeric dials that any writer can add to their own Style Lab). - **Private Groups**: Invite-only reading circles for sharing work-in-progress with beta readers outside the public community hub. - **Universes**: Over 100 public-domain worldbuilding hubs (Sherlock Holmes, Dracula, Jane Austen, Oz, the Greek myths, and more) at aistoryhub.co/universes/, each pre-loaded with characters, locations, and lore extracted from the source text. Anonymous visitors can generate an opening scene immediately with the platform's own AI, no signup or API key required; the draft survives if they sign up afterward. User-submitted universes built from copyrighted properties (Harry Potter, Star Wars, and similar) are fork-only inside the editor for signed-in writers, since the free anonymous composer only runs on public-domain source material. - **Export**: TXT, DOCX, or a full ZIP (chapters plus every story element). Writers own 100% of their content and can export anytime. ## Free tools (no signup required) - **Public Domain Universes composer** (https://aistoryhub.co/worlds): Pick a character and a situation in one of over 100 public-domain worlds and get a full opening scene in seconds, no account or API key needed. Nobody owns these worlds, so what gets written is free to keep, publish, and sell. Signing up afterward keeps the draft instead of losing it. - **AI Slop Checker** (https://aistoryhub.co/slop-checker): Paste any prose and get a 0-100 score against the 742-entry Corpus of AI Clichés, weighted by tell strength and density per 1,000 words. Runs entirely in the browser; no text is sent to a server or an AI model. Built on the same corpus AIStoryHub uses to self-check its own social media drafts. - **Corpus of AI Clichés** (https://aistoryhub.co/corpus): The full 742-entry, searchable, downloadable (JSON) dataset of words, phrases, and sentence patterns that signal AI-generated writing, built from published frequency studies (Kobak et al. 2024) and direct testing against current models. - **The Fiction Slop Index** (https://aistoryhub.co/slop-index): A ranking of leading AI models on how human their creative writing reads. Where general slop leaderboards only cover email, essays, and social posts, this one measures fiction: it scores each model on AI tells (corpus density), templating, sentence rhythm, and show-don't-tell (filter verbs and emotion-naming), the craft failures other leaderboards skip. Uses no LLM judge in the headline score. - **AIisms** (https://aistoryhub.co/aiisms): A crowdsourced rating game where readers score snippets for how AI-sounding they are and tag the phrases that give it away, feeding the corpus above. - **ELI5 guides** (https://aistoryhub.co/eli5): Plain-language, jargon-free explainers for new AI-fiction writers, with click-by-click walkthroughs and a screenshot at every step. Covers what an AI model is, what an API key does, what tokens are, why AI sounds like AI, and how a writer's voice gets learned. No account needed to read. ## For AI agents and developers AIStoryHub exposes a real, remote MCP server and a REST API, so an AI agent can act on a writer's account directly instead of only reading about the product. - **MCP server**: `https://aistoryhub.co/mcp/mcp` (Streamable HTTP; legacy SSE at `/mcp/sse`). Exposes 39 tools covering stories, chapters, the story bible (characters, locations, factions, items, lore), Voiceprints (the 33-dial Style Lab voice profile pinned to a story), AI generation (`generate_prose`, `revise_text`, `grit_pass`, `editorial_pass`, `self_check`), Story Rules, durable memory, and the skills catalog. Every tool is a thin wrapper over the REST API below, so scopes and rate limits are enforced in one place. - **Auth**: static `ash_` bearer tokens with explicit scopes (works with any MCP client that lets you set a header, e.g. Claude Code, Cursor), or a full OAuth 2.1 authorization server with RFC 8414 metadata, RFC 9728 protected-resource discovery, PKCE, and dynamic client registration (works with one-click connectors: claude.ai Connectors, Claude Desktop, and ChatGPT's Developer Mode custom connectors, which also speak Streamable HTTP + OAuth). - **REST API**: `/api/v1`, documented with an OpenAPI 3 spec at https://aistoryhub.co/openapi.json. Same scoped bearer tokens as the MCP server. - **Skills catalog**: seven first-party skills (Editor-in-Chief, Continuity Keeper, The Tell, Voice Coach, Structural Pass, Drafting Partner, Cold Reader) an agent or a writer can install mid-conversation. Each is prose instructions, not code, and each declares in writing what it will and won't touch. Installed skills export as real `SKILL.md` files for use in any local project's `.claude/skills/`. - **In-app agent (Ash)**: the same tool catalog also runs inside AIStoryHub's own chat UI, with manuscript writes gated behind an explicit approve/deny card by default (toggleable to auto-approve). - **Full setup docs**: https://aistoryhub.co/developers (endpoints, scopes, client config for Claude Code/Desktop/Cursor/ChatGPT) and https://aistoryhub.co/docs/ash-tools-skills (tool catalog, approval gates, skills, memory). - **Claude Desktop install guide**: https://aistoryhub.co/install-mcp, a click-by-click walkthrough (with screenshots) of adding AIStoryHub as a one-click OAuth connector in Claude Desktop, no API key required. ## How it works 1. **Set the stage**: Build the story world (characters, locations, lore) and create or select a Voiceprint that defines genre, tone, pacing, POV, and banned words. This becomes a persistent context Ash never forgets. 2. **Draft with Ash**: Click Generate PRO to write a scene in one pass, sounding like the writer, not a generic model. 3. **Edit and keep control**: Apply Revise for targeted edits, or Human Grit Pass to humanize the prose. Every action snapshots a version, so writers can always roll back from Version History. The voice stays the writer's, start to finish. ## Pricing model AIStoryHub is free. There is no platform subscription fee. Writers bring their own API key from a supported provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or OpenRouter) and pay that provider directly at their published rates. For most writers, API costs run a few cents per session to a few dollars per month. Light writers sometimes spend under a dollar a month. AIStoryHub never adds a markup. ## What AIStoryHub is not - Not a generic AI chatbot - Not a subscription that bundles AI usage (writers pay their provider directly) - Not a ghost-writing service. The writer directs; Ash assists. ## Pages - Homepage: https://aistoryhub.co/ - Features: https://aistoryhub.co/features - Machine-readable features (for AI agents): https://aistoryhub.co/features.md - Pricing: https://aistoryhub.co/pricing - Machine-readable pricing (for AI agents): https://aistoryhub.co/pricing.md - AI Slop Checker: https://aistoryhub.co/slop-checker - The Fiction Slop Index (LLMs ranked on how human their fiction reads): https://aistoryhub.co/slop-index - Fiction Slop Index methodology (the axes, formulas, test set, and principles): https://aistoryhub.co/slop-index/methodology - Corpus of AI Clichés: https://aistoryhub.co/corpus - AIisms: https://aistoryhub.co/aiisms - Universes (browse all 100+ public-domain worlds): https://aistoryhub.co/worlds - Community: https://aistoryhub.co/community - Community Story Rules gallery (shareable AI writing rules that rebind to your own story): https://aistoryhub.co/community/rules - Community Writing Styles gallery (shareable voice profiles / style dials to import into Style Lab): https://aistoryhub.co/community/styles - ELI5 (plain-language guides to AI writing): https://aistoryhub.co/eli5 - How we do it (the craft behind the AI): https://aistoryhub.co/how-we-do-it - Discord community (the Writers' Room): https://aistoryhub.co/discord - Documentation: https://aistoryhub.co/docs - Ash Tools & Skills (agentic tool calling, approval gates, skills, memory): https://aistoryhub.co/docs/ash-tools-skills - Developer API and MCP server docs: https://aistoryhub.co/developers - Install the MCP server in Claude Desktop (step-by-step, with screenshots): https://aistoryhub.co/install-mcp - OpenAPI spec: https://aistoryhub.co/openapi.json - MCP server endpoint (Streamable HTTP): https://aistoryhub.co/mcp/mcp - Sign up: https://aistoryhub.co/auth/signup - Terms of Service: https://aistoryhub.co/terms - Privacy Policy: https://aistoryhub.co/privacy ## Tech stack Next.js (App Router), TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Supabase.
