# Appendix

> Appendix connects the AI agent you already use with a human doctor. Built by an ER doctor and staffed by board-certified physicians, Appendix provides medical review, guidance, and prescriptions when appropriate. Use it for your own care with a $49/month membership, add family members for $19/month each, or bring the same doctors into your app through the Prescribing API.

## For Developers — Prescribing API

- **What it is**: `POST https://api.appendix.com/api/v1/prescribing/query` submits a clinical request on behalf of your user; a board-certified U.S. physician reviews it and e-prescribes when medically appropriate. Appendix is the medical practice — you don't need to build one.
- **Pricing**: outcome-based — you pay per completed physician review (complete and incomplete reviews are priced differently). No platform fees, no per-prescription charges. Current rates: https://appendix.com/docs/prescribing-api/pricing. Volume pricing available (hello@appendix.com).
- **Consent model**: your user approves each request through an OAuth-style consent page hosted by Appendix, consents to care with Appendix, and verifies identity. Enterprise option: organizations that obtain and document patient consent directly can create patients via API and skip the consent page — requires an enterprise agreement (hello@appendix.com). - **Outcomes**: signed webhooks (HMAC-SHA256) plus a polling endpoint report status, prescription count, and whether a physician message is waiting — never clinical details. Apps whose use case requires it can opt into full data visibility: the patient explicitly consents to the app seeing the interaction (demographics, physician conversation, prescription details), retrievable via a details endpoint; the webhook stays thin either way. - **Availability**: The Knowledge Base is available worldwide for free. Clinical services (physician review and prescriptions) are available in 44 U.S. states and Washington, DC (not yet in Arkansas, Kansas, Mississippi, New Mexico, Rhode Island, or West Virginia).
