# ATSPrep

> Free resume builder, ATS checker and job tracker. It shows the text a parser reads from your file, checks every line, and never invents a fact. Your resume file is never uploaded.

## The facts

- **Free**: Free plan forever: your ATS score, every fix, job match, 5 AI edits a day and PDF downloads, with no card or watermark. Optional ATSPrep Pro ($5/month, or $24 once for 6 months) adds 300 AI edits a day, Fix all with AI, AI tailoring, Word downloads, all 7 templates and unlimited practice with Pip.
- **Account**: not needed for the first check of a resume, 3 rechecks a day, editing or the free tools. PDF downloads need a free account, and Word files need Pro; plain text and cover letters don't. A free account is also needed to read every fix.
- **AI edit limits**: 1 AI edit in total without an account, then 5 a day with a free account.
- **Nothing invented**: AI rewrites are checked against your own lines on the server. A draft that adds a number, name or contact detail you didn't write is dropped. When a figure is missing, the rewrite leaves a blank such as [X%] and asks you for the real one.
- **Privacy**: your resume file is never uploaded. Its text, without your name or contact details, goes once to an open model on Workers AI to sort it into roles; an AI rewrite sends only the line being improved, with its job title, employer and dates. That text is not stored, not logged and not used for training.
- **Parser view**: X-Ray reads your exported PDF with PDF.js and shows the text a parser recovers, in reading order.
- **Download**: real, text-based PDF and DOCX files with no watermark. PDF downloads are free, with no watermark. Word files come with Pro. Plain text too.
- **Job tracker**: up to 300 applications with stages, next steps and due dates, at https://atsprep.com/applications.
- **Pip**: a voice interview coach at https://atsprep.com/interview. You answer out loud; Pip asks follow-up questions and gives a report. Calls need a free account. 1 practice session (a call or a lesson) in total with a free account, then 1 follow-up on a weak spot; ATSPrep Pro has no limit.

## MCP server

ATSPrep runs a remote MCP server at https://atsprep.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, no authentication, stateless). Its 19 read-only tools cover resume checks (`check_resume`, `check_bullets`, `suggest_roles`, `open_in_studio`, `list_templates`), job posts (`fetch_job_post`, `keyword_scan`, `match_job`, `tailor_resume`), writing (`improve_bullet`, `write_summary`, `action_verbs`), LinkedIn and letters (`generate_linkedin_headline`, `check_linkedin_headline`, `check_linkedin_about`, `draft_cover_letter`, `draft_resignation_letter`) and interviews (`interview_questions`, `review_interview_answer`), plus five prompts and three resources. Four tools draft text with Cloudflare Workers AI behind a guard that drops any figure or name the user didn't write; the rest are deterministic. It stores nothing and never logs resume text. ## What it does

- **Job matching**: compares a resume with a pasted posting and shows a job fit with the resume line behind every match. Job fit is a tailoring aid, not a hiring probability. It reads for meaning by default, once per posting and resume version; users can switch to word for word.
- **Review**: flags weak openers, filler and vague claims, and highlights evidence such as scope and measurable results. These are writing heuristics, not fact-checking or a prediction of recruiter preference.
- **Your resumes**: keep up to 20 resumes, each with its own design and job description. The one open in Studio saves itself as you type; copy one to tailor it for another job. Download and restore editable backups.
- **Application workspace**: keep up to 300 applications with next actions and self-reported outcomes. Reuse user-confirmed achievements, map requirements to evidence, and review tailored wording individually. Recording a submission explicitly freezes saved resume content and reviewed evidence; it is not automatic applying or a receipt from an employer. Prepare interview notes from that record. Workspace backups include document archives and relationships; restore does not replace the Studio draft. Optional free sign-in (Google or email) syncs saved resumes and applications to the user's account; signed out, everything stays in the browser. Signed-in users get an opt-out email on the day a next step is due and a weekly nudge about quiet applications; ATSPrep never contacts employers.
- **Parser X-Ray**: reads the exported PDF with PDF.js and checks recovered text and reading order against the source. It does not emulate an employer's ATS or explain a rejection.
- **Import**: reads PDF, Word (.docx and .doc), RTF, OpenDocument, TXT and Markdown, and maps the content into editable fields so problems can be fixed rather than just scored.
- **Export**: creates PDF and DOCX resumes. PDF text recovery can be checked with X-Ray. PDF is free and unwatermarked, with a free account; DOCX needs ATSPrep Pro; plain text needs no account.

### Does this show what every ATS will read?

X-Ray shows the text ATSPrep's PDF extractor recovers from your finished file, so you can catch missing text and reading-order problems before you send it. It is ATSPrep's own extractor rather than Workday, Greenhouse, or another vendor ATS.

### Is ATSPrep really free?

Yes, there is a free plan that never expires: importing, editing, your ATS score with every fix, job match, PDF downloads in Clean, Signal, Editorial and Minimal, 5 AI edits a day and application tracking. No card and no watermark. Sign in with Google, free, to download and save. ATSPrep Pro ($5 a month, or $24 for 6 months) adds more AI edits, Fix all with AI, AI tailoring, Word downloads and all templates.

### Can I keep track of applications and resume versions?

Yes. Save up to 20 named resume versions in Studio and track up to 300 applications. Keep reusable achievements, map requirements to evidence, and explicitly record the saved resume content you submitted. Historical copies remain unchanged when you edit or delete their source versions. Workspace backups include documents; restore keeps them in a workspace archive without replacing your Studio draft. Sign in free if you want them synced across devices; there is no automatic application submission or email reminder.

### Can ATSPrep match my resume to a job description?

Yes. Paste a posting to see your job fit, each requirement met or missing, and the resume line behind every match. It reads for meaning by default, so a requirement said in other words still counts; switch to word for word anytime. Job fit is a guide to tailoring, not a hiring probability.

### Does my resume get uploaded to a server?

No. Your resume file is never uploaded: it opens in your browser, and Review scoring, X-Ray checks and PDF generation run there. To sort it into its parts and suggest fixes, its text, without your name or contact details, goes to our AI, which keeps nothing. An AI edit sends only the lines it works on. By default, when you add a job in the Studio, matching by meaning sends your resume's content lines and the posting's requirement lines once per version (you can switch it off); your name, email, phone, address and links are excluded, and nothing is stored.

### What file types can I upload to check my resume?

PDF, DOCX, TXT and Markdown. You can also paste plain text straight in. ATSPrep reads the file, extracts the content, and maps it into editable fields so you can fix problems rather than just being scored on them.
