# BackNine API Documentation

> Public developer documentation for BackNine's APIs and Quote & Apply integrations. Use this site to embed Quote & Apply, prefill eApps, call quote and case APIs, configure webhooks, and retrieve agency, agent, product, and commission data.

This documentation is served at `https://docs.back9ins.com`. API requests go to BOSS (`https://app.back9ins.com` in production, `https://demo.back9ins.com` in development). Prefer the stable hash links below over reconstructing sidebar click paths. Do not include or request API keys, webhook secrets, credentials, or private customer data in agent prompts.

Paginated list APIs use 1-based pages; values below 1 are normalized to 1, and `meta.page`, when included in the response, reports the normalized page. Lists default to 25 results and cap each page at 50 results. Use `meta.total` to count matching records across all pages. See [Pagination](https://docs.back9ins.com/#pagination).

MCP access depends on the authenticated user's BackNine permissions. Users without data-export permission receive limited record samples and restricted access to individual record details; bulk export requires appropriate permission. Use `query.counts_only: true` for full authorized filtered counts and available statistics. Follow the current connection's tool schemas and handle HTTP 429 and 503 responses gracefully. Do not repeatedly retry blocked requests or attempt to work around access restrictions. Additional individual records can be reviewed in BOSS.
