- Methodology: Prices are each provider's own advertised price for its entry screening package, fetched from the provider's public pricing page and matched verbatim; the quote and its retrieval date are stored with every figure. The median is computed over providers with a published, verified entry price only.

A provider that publishes no price is listed with that fact and the date we checked, and is never estimated. A provider whose page we could not read is recorded separately again, because not knowing is not the same as there being nothing.

Advertised starting prices are not quotes: volume, the searches in the package, and the county court and database access fees passed through at cost all change the bill, and the enterprise screeners price per client.

Per-state coverage is evidenced by the provider's own live state page at the recorded URL, never by a claim to screen in all fifty. The roster is the CFPB's List of Consumer Reporting Companies, employment and tenant screening sections.
