# Banger > Banger is email marketing your AI runs, for any business that keeps in touch with its customers: online stores first, then service businesses, local shops and apps. It is one email system for your company, operated by the AI assistant or agent you already use (Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Grok, or your own) through a remote MCP server and a REST API, with a web app for your team. Banger is made by BangerMail Inc. ## What Banger is - One system for company email: hosted mailboxes on your own domain (or a Banger-hosted starter address), product and transactional email sent from your software, Broadcasts (one-off sends to a list or segment), Journeys (automated lifecycle flows, from a one-step welcome to multi-branch sequences), contacts, lists, segments, signup forms, templates and on-brand email designs, sending domains and deliverability, Approvals, and Logs. - Three surfaces over the same workspace state: the MCP server for AI agents (https://api.bangermail.com/mcp), the REST API for code (https://api.bangermail.com), and the web app for people (https://app.bangermail.com/). - Who it is for: online stores first (welcome offers, cart reminders, repeat-purchase emails), then service businesses and local shops (follow-ups, news and offers, one inbox for client replies), and SaaS and apps (onboarding, upgrade and win-back Journeys plus product email). Positioning: https://bangermail.com/for/ecommerce/, https://bangermail.com/for/services/, https://bangermail.com/for/saas/. - Switching: free to move from Klaviyo, Mailchimp or Customer.io; a free setup call (https://calendly.com/tgloureiro/banger) moves your contacts and automations and connects your AI. - Setup: sign up free at https://app.bangermail.com/. Onboarding creates a Banger-hosted mailbox and proves a real send-and-receive round trip before it asks about a domain; adding your own domain gives you the exact DNS records and a verification the agent can run. - Company: BangerMail Inc. Contact: support@team.bangermail.com. Security reports: security@team.bangermail.com. ## Connect an AI assistant (MCP) - MCP server URL: https://api.bangermail.com/mcp - Transport: Streamable HTTP - Auth: OAuth 2.1 with PKCE (S256) and dynamic client registration. Protected resource metadata: https://api.bangermail.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp. Authorization server metadata: https://api.bangermail.com/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server. Unauthenticated requests get 401 with a WWW-Authenticate header pointing at the resource metadata. - Clients that cannot do OAuth can send a workspace API key as a Bearer token to the same endpoint. - Registry: listed in the official MCP Registry as com.bangermail/banger. Plugin manifests for Claude, Codex, and Grok: https://github.com/bangermail/banger-plugin - Machine-readable server description: https://bangermail.com/.well-known/mcp.json - Full guide: https://bangermail.com/banger-mcp/ ### Claude 1. Choose Add to Claude. Claude opens with Banger already filled in. 2. Choose Continue, then Connect. 3. Sign in to Banger and approve your workspace. One-click link: https://claude.ai/customize/connectors?modal=add-custom-connector&connectorName=Banger&connectorUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.bangermail.com%2Fmcp Or add it by hand in Customize → Connectors with the URL above. Team and Enterprise owners add it for the organization first. ### Claude Code 1. Add Banger as a persistent user-scope server. 2. Log in once; the token is stored by Claude Code. ``` claude plugin marketplace add bangermail/banger-plugin claude plugin install banger@banger ``` Without the plugin: claude mcp add --transport http --scope user banger https://api.bangermail.com/mcp, then claude mcp login banger. ### ChatGPT 1. Turn on Developer mode in Settings → Security and login. 2. Open Plugins, select +, name it Banger and paste the MCP URL. 3. Authorize Banger for your workspace. Once Banger is listed in the ChatGPT directory, it will be one Connect click. ### Codex 1. Add the server; Codex detects OAuth automatically. 2. Log in; the browser opens the Banger authorization page. ``` codex mcp add banger --url https://api.bangermail.com/mcp codex mcp login banger ``` Codex CLI, the Codex app, and its IDE extensions share one configuration, so Banger appears in all of them. ### Grok 1. On grok.com open Connectors, choose New Connector, then Custom. 2. Paste the MCP URL as the server URL. 3. Approve the authorization page when Grok opens it. ``` grok plugin install bangermail/banger-plugin --trust ``` The command is for Grok Build; the connector steps are for the Grok app. ### Cursor and any other MCP client 1. Add a remote Streamable HTTP server at the MCP URL. 2. Pick OAuth. Discovery, registration, and PKCE need no manual setup. 3. Approve the authorization page and choose the workspace. Cursor: add a server in Cursor's MCP settings (mcp.json) with the URL below; Cursor handles the OAuth sign-in. ```json { "mcpServers": { "banger": { "url": "https://api.bangermail.com/mcp" } } } ``` Clients that cannot do OAuth can use a workspace API key created in Banger under Settings. ## REST API - Base URL: https://api.bangermail.com - Auth: `Authorization: Bearer `. Create keys in the Banger app under Settings → Developers → Manage API keys; choose the scopes the key needs. Keys start with `bgr_` and are shown once. - Reference with schemas and curl examples: https://bangermail.com/docs/api/ - OpenAPI 3.1 description (same operations): https://bangermail.com/openapi.json - API catalog (RFC 9727): https://bangermail.com/.well-known/api-catalog - Responses wrap results in `{ data }` and errors in `{ error: { code, message } }`. Send `Idempotency-Key` where an operation lists it. ## SMTP - Host submit.bangermail.com, port 465 (TLS) or 587 (STARTTLS); 2465 and 2587 where those are blocked. - Username `banger`; password a workspace API key with the `mail:send` scope. Login is offered only after TLS. - The From address must be on a hostname with an active Product lane. Every message appears in Logs. - Guide with settings, examples and reply codes: https://bangermail.com/docs/smtp/ ## Pricing US dollars, from https://bangermail.com/pricing/. Premium is billed yearly, or month to month for 20% more. Past what it includes, you pay per use, never more than your monthly limit. Every feature on every plan, Free included. - Free: $0. 500 emails a month, up to 100 a day; 256 MB storage; No watermarks; 7-day history; Community support. - Premium: $20/month billed yearly ($240/year), or $24 month to month. 50,000 emails a month, no daily cap; 50 GB storage; Unlimited history; Email support. - Enterprise: from $2,000/month billed yearly, or $2,400 month to month; book a call at https://calendly.com/tgloureiro/banger. From 2,000,000 emails a month; 2 TB storage; Dedicated IPs for sending; Slack support and 99.9% SLA; Pay by invoice, with a DPA. - Past what Premium includes: $0.40 per 1,000 emails, $0.10 per GB stored, a month. Usage is billed monthly. Never more than the workspace's spending limit: $100 a month unless changed; at 0, everything stops at what Premium includes. Free is free forever. No credit card. Upgrade only when you send or store more. Every email counts the same: marketing, product and mailbox. On Free, sends beyond the daily cap go out the next day. On Premium, use past what is included is billed monthly at the rates above, never more than your spending limit; at the limit, sending stops until the next month or until you raise it. We may pause sending that looks like spam or abuse. ## Safety model - Scoped OAuth: the authorization page shows the exact scope set, capped by the person's role, for one workspace. Scopes: `mail:read`, `mail:write`, `mail:send`, `contacts:read`, `contacts:write`, `campaigns:read`, `campaigns:write`, `campaigns:send`, `automation:read`, `automation:execute`, `connections:read`, `connections:use`, `connections:admin`, `workspace:admin`. Grants can be revoked in Banger under Settings → Agents. - Human Approvals: Banger always asks a person to approve certain actions, such as activating a Journey or publishing shared content. Sending, launching a Broadcast, and other governed actions follow the workspace approval policy: where it requires review, the agent proposes and a person approves in Banger. Agents and workspace API keys cannot approve. - Workspace-wide suppression: every Broadcast and Journey email carries one-click unsubscribe (RFC 8058). Unsubscribes, hard bounces, and spam complaints are suppressed across the whole workspace, and later sends to those addresses are refused. - Boundaries and audit: workspaces are company boundaries and products are strict email boundaries inside them. Governed mutations use idempotency keys, and every action lands in Logs. - Data handling: https://bangermail.com/trust/. Sending rules: https://bangermail.com/acceptable-use/. ## Key pages - [Banger: email your AI can run](https://bangermail.com/): Run Mailboxes, Broadcasts, and Journeys with your AI agent. - [Email for AI agents, on your own domain.](https://bangermail.com/email-for-ai-agents/): Give your AI agent an inbox, transactional email and marketing automation on your domain, with human Approvals. - [Banger MCP](https://bangermail.com/banger-mcp/): Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Grok, or any MCP client to your company email with OAuth you approve. - [Banger documentation](https://bangermail.com/docs/): Build with the Banger API and connect AI assistants through MCP. - [Banger API reference](https://bangermail.com/docs/api/): Banger API endpoints, authentication, request and response schemas, and curl examples for workspace resources and public signup forms. - [Send email over SMTP](https://bangermail.com/docs/smtp/): Send from Supabase Auth, WordPress or any app that speaks SMTP through submit.bangermail.com, with a Banger API key as the password. - [Banger Mail Pricing](https://bangermail.com/pricing/): Workspace pricing for Banger Mail: free to start, paid plans from $20 a month, and no seat or contact fees. - [How Banger handles your mail](https://bangermail.com/trust/): What Banger stores, where it lives, who can read it, and what leaves Banger's systems. - [Banger Acceptable Use & Anti-Spam Policy](https://bangermail.com/acceptable-use/): What you and your AI agents may and may not send with Banger: consent, unsubscribes, sender identity, prohibited content, and enforcement. - [Banger Status](https://bangermail.com/status/): Live reachability of Banger's API, MCP server, web app, and sign-in, checked every minute. - [Banger Support](https://bangermail.com/support/): How to get help with Banger, the Banger app for ChatGPT and Claude, and your account. ## Who it's for - [Email Marketing for Online Stores](https://bangermail.com/for/ecommerce/): Email marketing for online stores, run by your AI: welcome offers, cart reminders and repeat-purchase emails, sent from your own domain. - [Email Marketing for Service Businesses](https://bangermail.com/for/services/): Email marketing for service businesses, run by your AI: follow-ups after every job, news and offers for your clients, and one inbox for their replies. - [Email Marketing for SaaS and Apps](https://bangermail.com/for/saas/): Email marketing for SaaS and apps, run by your AI: onboarding Journeys, upgrade emails and win-backs, plus product email from your code. ## Features - [Email Marketing Features | Banger](https://bangermail.com/features/): Marketing automation, newsletters, scheduling, A/B tests, auto translation, signup forms, transactional email and a shared inbox, in one email platform on every plan. - [Marketing Automation | Banger](https://bangermail.com/features/marketing-automation/): Banger Journeys send each person the right email when they sign up, start a trial, leave a cart or go quiet.
