# Consultant

> Consultant is a global search service for live contractor, freelance, and consulting assignments. It also provides an authenticated Model Context Protocol server for AI assistants.

Use the canonical public site at https://consultant.dev. Assignment search results include source, location, posted date, skills, and a Consultant assignment detail URL when those fields are available.

## MCP connection

All MCP tools require OAuth authentication with a Consultant account. Clients that support OAuth discovery can use the metadata links above and dynamic client registration. The live server advertises its current tool schemas during MCP initialization. Its current tools are `search_assignments`, `get_assignment`, `upload_cv`, `my_matches`, and `refresh_matches`.

Dynamic OAuth client registration is limited to 20 requests per minute per source IP. No separate fixed authenticated tool-call quota is published. Treat HTTP 429 responses as temporary, reduce request frequency, and retry with backoff.
