# DataHubz Attest > Attest is a document signing and verifiable records service by DataHubz. Signers approve with a passkey and need no account or password, documents are encrypted in the browser before upload, every completed agreement is anchored on the Base public blockchain, and anyone can verify a signed copy for free, even if Attest is unavailable. Key facts: - Pricing: the Free plan includes 2 documents sent for signature, in total; free accounts that use the other tools also get 10 records a month for them (receipts, compliance proofs, Proof Cards, certificates, sealed calls, approval releases, continuity vaults and Verified Forms, through the dashboard or the API). Each document a free account sends for signature counts against both: it uses one of the 2 documents and one of that month's records. The Signing plan is $5 a month for 20 documents. Pro is $49 a month for every Attest tool and the API, with 10,000 records a month. The people who sign never pay, on any plan, and never need a crypto wallet. - Signing: the sender uploads a PDF and places signature, initials, date, full name and text fields. Each signer gets an email with their own link, sets up a passkey in one step and approves with it (Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello or their device PIN). For a signer new to Attest, the sender chooses at Send. Ready now (the default) lets them open and sign as soon as they set up their passkey. With Private from the start and automatic unlocking on, the document is unlocked by the sender's own devices, usually within seconds of the signer's passkey when one of them with notices allowed is online (a computer, with its browser running); a device is turned on with the sender's passkey. Otherwise (none has done it within 15 minutes, the switch was off, or the agreement was created through the API without a sealed copy for delivery), the sender is emailed and unlocks it by hand. Signers can sign in any order or one at a time, with automatic reminders and expiry dates. - Privacy: documents are encrypted in the sender's browser (AES-256-GCM) and decrypted only on the parties' devices. Every document is end-to-end encrypted, and the sender chooses how private: Private from the start means only the sender and their signers can ever open it; Ready now lets a new signer open it right away, end-to-end encrypted from the moment they do. Ready now keeps a sealed copy of the document's key with Attest's signing service until the signer first opens it, then deletes that copy. Attest stores the document only as ciphertext, including the copies for the sender's devices, which are encrypted to keys made on those devices that never leave them; only fingerprints go on the blockchain. - Evidence: every party receives the same sealed PDF: the signed pages, with a "Signed with Attest" stamp on every signature and a seal line at the foot of every page, a certificate of completion, the audit trail up to completion and a "Verify it yourself, without us" page, with the full evidence (attest-evidence.json), the original document (original-document.pdf) and a standalone open-source verifier (attest-verifier.html) attached inside. Each stamp's verification code and QR code lead anyone to the record. - Verification: free, with no account, at https://attest.datahubz.com/verify, by ID, by fingerprint, or by dropping the file. The open-source verifier checks signatures, fingerprints and the blockchain anchor on the reader's own device. - Blockchain: records are anchored on Base mainnet (chain 8453), and zero-knowledge proofs are verified on zkVerify. Records anchored before Attest moved to Base, in October 2026, were anchored on Horizen, and they stay verifiable with Base alone: Attest keeps a proof of each one that checks against the output roots Horizen's L3 posted to Base. - Zero-knowledge proofs: Share proof shows one fact, that a party signed an agreement (alone or with a named co-signer) and the day it was completed, without revealing the document, its title or its terms. Proofs are verified on zkVerify. - Legal validity: electronic signatures are recognized for most agreements in the United States (the ESIGN Act and UETA) and the European Union (eIDAS). Some documents, such as wills or certain notarized deeds, have special rules in many places: check yours. - AI assistants: the Attest connector, a remote MCP server at https://attest.datahubz.com/mcp, lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP apps check records, list agreements, remind signers, prepare agreements for the person to send, record receipts and share proofs, after the person signs in and approves it. It never receives a document's contents or a key, and it can't sign: each signer signs with their own passkey. - Beyond signing (Pro): receipts for any file or event, Proof Cards issued as W3C Verifiable Credentials, certificates, sealed submissions, approval release, a continuity vault, Verified Forms, and a REST API. -
