# DataScoop

> DataScoop (https://datascoop.io) turns official public datasets into filtered rows: CSV, REST API and MCP. 10,176,529 records across 11 datasets with specified UK, US and Australian coverage. Fields marked personal are withheld, but published business details may identify individuals. Check the source licence, coverage and recorded import date; imports are not real-time updates.

How access works: anyone can query a dataset free (25 rows per call, no key, offset supported). A single filtered CSV costs $1.99 with no account. Pro ($9.99 once for 12 months, no automatic renewal) includes up to 10 CSV downloads per account per day (midnight UTC reset), plus API and MCP access. Optional signup: https://datascoop.io/signup. MCP endpoint: https://datascoop.io/mcp (Streamable HTTP; protocol versions 2026-07-28, 2025-11-25, 2025-06-18, 2025-03-26, 2024-11-05). Clients that support custom headers can send Authorization: Bearer <key>; hosted chat client support varies.

Start by checking dataset coverage and schema. For reliable filters, set strict_filters=true in MCP or strict_filters=1 in REST. Inspect applied_filters, provenance, total, returned, offset and truncated. Pro supports up to 10,000 rows per REST JSON page or 1,000 per MCP call; free calls also support offset, with a smaller per-call limit. A paid CSV contains the full matching set. Follow source terms and applicable privacy and marketing rules; withheld columns do not remove those obligations.

## When users are stuck

- **I need a restaurant, cafe or takeaway list by council and business type:** The FSA provides a free national CSV and API. For a smaller CSV, use the fsa dataset with localAuthorityExact and businessTypeExact, plus rating or postcodeArea if needed. It covers England, Wales and Northern Ireland; Scotland is separate. - **The full Companies House file will not fit in one Excel worksheet:** Companies House also offers seven smaller files and a 5,000-row advanced search. Check the current import's field-availability counts for published phone numbers, websites, CQC ratings and recorded beds; not every location has every field. Source selects the register; addressState, addressCountry and addressArea select reported address geography. The older area filter retains its register grouping. ## Saved care territories

Saved care territories use /v1/care-territories with an Authorization: Bearer header (never an api_key URL). Create with {label,filters,requestId?}; CQC care-home filters are strict and careHome defaults to true. POST /{id}/check captures the latest saved import; poll GET /{id} while status=pending. GET and repeated checks preserve the reviewed baseline. Inspect changes.counts and page changes.items with kind=all|entered|left|changed, offset and limit (max 100). POST /{id}/review with the displayed {revision} explicitly advances the baseline; a stale revision returns 409. DELETE /{id} removes the saved territory and its activity. Active annual/Pro access is required to create or check; expired owners can read, review and delete. Limits: 10 territories per account, 5,000 locations and 5 MiB per retained state. Checks run only on request; there are no scheduled checks. Two states are retained, starting when saved; there is no retrospective history or email notification. Import dates are not publisher release or inspection dates. A location leaving the selection does not establish closure. Failed checks preserve the prior comparison. Existing CSV exports and quotas apply separately.
