# draw.io

> draw.io is free diagramming software, used since 2005, for flowcharts, UML, ER, network, cloud architecture and many other diagram types. It runs in the browser at app.diagrams.net, as a desktop app, and inside Google Drive, Docs and Slides, Microsoft SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams, Confluence, Jira, GitHub, VS Code and Notion. The editor source code is Apache 2.0 licensed, and diagrams are stored on your device or in the storage you choose, not on draw.io's servers.

This site (www.drawio.com) has the user documentation, the technical reference and the blog. Diagrams are saved as `.drawio` files, which contain mxGraph XML. AI assistants can create draw.io diagrams through the draw.io MCP server and plugins; see the "AI assistants" section below.
