# FACTRAIL FACTRAIL is evidence infrastructure for AI agents. It returns structured, source-backed real-world evidence with source identity, support level, freshness, coverage, conflicts, unresolved dependencies, and reusable receipts. Public beta. ## Connect - MCP (Streamable HTTP): https://mcp.factrail.online/mcp - Website: https://factrail.online/ - Health: https://mcp.factrail.online/healthz - Source and documentation: https://github.com/baronsigma/factrail Call `factrail_capabilities` first. It describes current capabilities, inputs, fields, sources, versions, limitations, and dynamic source state. Hosted deployments may differ from repository source; inspect MCP `tools/list` and capability results. ## Core tools - `factrail_capabilities`: discover actual supported operations and source state. - `factrail_verify`: verify structured facts; current capability is `company_fr`, using French SIREN/SIRET identifiers. - `factrail_assess`: assess structured situations; current `import` capability is **Beta** and may be partial or provisional. - `factrail_get_receipt`: retrieve a previously generated EvidenceEnvelope by `receipt_id`; canonical content hash is recomputed and altered content is rejected. Legacy tools remain callable: `verify_french_company`, `assess_import`, and experimental/compatibility-only `analyze_company`. New integrations should use the generic tools above. `analyze_company` does not synthesize unavailable finance or credit fields. ## Current capability coverage `company_fr` is the strongest current capability. It uses INSEE / Sirene and BODACC public/official records; field availability depends on those records. INSEE/Sirene has priority for current company status and legal name. Lower-priority evidence and conflicts remain visible. This supports company and KYB workflows; it is not a legally sufficient KYC/KYB system by itself. `import` is Beta. Inputs, source evidence, classification candidates, and deterministic calculations are distinguished. Curated/provisional dependencies produce provisional derived results. FACTRAIL has official TARIC snapshot ingestion infrastructure, but **no genuine European Commission TARIC snapshot is currently installed** (`not_installed`). Access2Markets is secondary evidence and curated tariff values are provisional. There is no authoritative EU Member-State VAT integration or complete authoritative landed-cost chain. TARIC fetch is unavailable; operator-supplied official files can be diagnosed and ingested offline. See the repository TARIC operator guide. ## Evidence semantics EvidenceEnvelope includes schema version, status, subject, facts, evidence sources, conflicts, coverage, freshness, receipt ID, and generation time. Statuses can include `supported`, `contradicted`, `insufficient_evidence`, `stale`, and `conflicting_sources`; outcomes are not reduced to a boolean. Support levels include `authoritative`, `supported`, `derived_supported`, `derived_provisional`, `curated`, and `caller_input`. Caller-provided data is not externally verified. Deterministic results inherit the quality of their dependencies. A source success, partial response, source error/unavailability, source not integrated, disabled lookup, and not-required check are distinct. Missing user input is distinct from unsupported scope and upstream failure. Unknown is better than invented. Receipts are content-addressed and integrity-checked. They are not blockchain records, digital signatures, immutable global ledger entries, or proof that a statement is universally true. ## Source hierarchy - French current company facts: INSEE / Sirene is authoritative for current status and current legal name; BODACC is publication/event evidence and is retained without overriding current registry data. - Official customs data: a validated, installed European Commission TARIC snapshot is authoritative for its covered data. None is installed today. - Access2Markets: secondary/supporting evidence, never authoritative TARIC. - FACTRAIL tariff/VAT references: curated or provisional as identified in Evidence. - Caller input: input, not external evidence. ## Not currently provided No arbitrary natural-language fact checking, general web search or URL fetching, news verification, complete global company verification, dedicated beneficial ownership/sanctions/EORI resolver, authoritative installed EU TARIC data, authoritative EU VAT integration, complete authoritative landed-cost chain, arbitrary regulatory verification, signed receipts, blockchain/immutable global ledger, continuous watches, or general-purpose LLM reasoning over unknown claims.
