# Finology Software > The student-loan-lifecycle platform for financial advisors. Import a client's NSLDS file, model federal and private student-loan repayment strategies (income-driven repayment, PSLF, refinancing) side by side, and generate client-ready reports: without spreadsheets. Finology Software is a B2B SaaS platform for CFPs, CSLPs, CCFCs, and planning-focused RIAs who advise clients on student-loan repayment. The engine is current with federal rules, including the July 1, 2026 transition to the Repayment Assistance Plan (RAP) and the new Standard plan that replace SAVE and the older income-driven options. A borrower-facing hub lets individuals find a qualified advisor. ## What it is and who it's for - [Finology Software home](https://finology.tech/): The student-loan-lifecycle platform for financial advisors: plan repayment, build the plan, print it. - [Product overview](https://finology.tech/product/): The core tools: NSLDS import, IDR simulation, PSLF tracking, and client-ready reports. - [Solutions](https://finology.tech/solutions/): One platform for every kind of advisor: solo RIA, mid-size RIA, enterprise RIA, broker-dealer/hybrid, and specialist designations (CFP, CSLP, CCFC). - [Developers](https://finology.tech/developers/): The REST API and MCP server over the same engine, with security notes and federal-rules currency. - [About](https://finology.tech/about/): The company behind Finology Software. ## Core tools: the Liability Planner - [Liability Planner (Product)](https://finology.tech/product/): The umbrella planning workspace: NSLDS data import, loan management, repayment-strategy simulation, and savable pro-forma income scenarios. - [Federal Loan Simulator / IDR Simulator](https://finology.tech/product/): Models income-driven repayment plans side by side: RAP, new Standard, IBR (new and old), PAYE, ICR, graduated, and extended, with payment, forgiveness, total-cost, and tax projections across up to four scenarios. - [Private Loan Planner](https://finology.tech/product/): Models private and consumer-loan repayment and refinancing, with side-by-side payment and lifetime-savings comparisons. - [Comparison Tool](https://finology.tech/product/): Compares repayment strategies side by side so advisors can show clients the trade-offs in cost, payment, and forgiveness. - [PSLF Tracker](https://finology.tech/product/): Ingests PSLF qualifying-payment counts from NSLDS, surfaces gaps, flags recertification deadlines, and provides audit trails for Public Service Loan Forgiveness. - [Client Reports](https://finology.tech/product/): Exports branded, versioned PDFs with firm logos, approved disclosures, side-by-side scenario tables, and client action plans, white-labeled with your firm's branding. - Borrower leads: get matched with borrowers who use Finology's free calculators (opt in from Settings). Off by default; an advisor chooses anywhere in the US or the states they serve, gets an email for each match, and works the lead in Prospects (mark contacted, convert to a client, or not a fit). Leads go only to advisors on an active paid subscription. ## Pricing - [Pricing](https://finology.tech/pricing/): Four plans. Free: a free login opens a 7-day Advisor trial plus 5 questions in Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot, no credit card. Developer: $49/month for 2,000 engine calls, with an API key or with your Finology login in Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot (buy it with the email you sign in with). Advisor: $99/advisor/month, or $89/month billed annually. Platform: $499/month for 100,000 calls. - Advisor plan: $99/advisor/month, or $89/advisor/month billed annually ($1,068/year). 11+ seats is custom, annual-only, and sales-led. The Advisor plan includes everything: unlimited clients, RAP and federal repayment plans, IDR & PSLF modeling, private/consumer-loan planning, NSLDS import, scenario comparisons, client-ready PDFs, white-label client reports carrying your firm's branding, the student loan and SAI calculators on up to 2 of your own firm's websites under your firm's name, and discoverability in the Find an Advisor directory. No add-ons, no per-client or per-report fees. - Borrower Hub: free to use. Borrowers can view their loans, understand their repayment options, and get matched with a qualified specialist advisor by state, designation, and niche. ## Free public calculators - [Free student loan and financial aid calculators](https://finology.tech/calculators/): Two free calculators, no signup, built on the same verified engine advisors use and updated for the July 1, 2026 rules. The student loan repayment comparison calculator shows every plan the borrower's loan type still qualifies for, side by side: monthly payment, lifetime cost, forgiveness timing, and the tax bill that can come with forgiveness. For most Direct loans that is Standard, RAP, IBR, PAYE and ICR, with PAYE priced on the stated assumption that the borrower is a PAYE new borrower. Plans a loan cannot elect are listed under Not shown with the reason rather than omitted. The Student Aid Index (SAI) calculator estimates the FAFSA Student Aid Index with the 2026-27 federal formula for dependent and independent students; colleges that use the CSS Profile or their own methods (which can count home equity) can differ. Finology Software subscribers can put both calculators on up to 2 of their own firm's websites, shown under the firm's name with a Powered by Finology Software credit. - Send this to my advisor: under the results on Finology Software's plan-comparison calculators on finology.tech (/calculators/, /rap-payment-calculator/, /ibr-calculator/, /rap-vs-ibr-calculator/ and /rap-vs-standard-calculator/) and on the RAP calculator at app.finology.tech/my-new-payment, a borrower can email their numbers to their own advisor. The advisor gets one email with the key numbers and a link to the full comparison that works for 30 days. The Student Aid Index (SAI) calculator on finology.tech (/sai-calculator/ and /calculators/) carries the same Send this to my advisor control: a family emails their SAI estimate to their college planner or financial advisor, who gets one email with the estimated SAI, the award year and the main inputs behind it, and a link to the full estimate that works for 30 days. It is an estimate, not the official FAFSA result. The SAI calculator has no advisor matching. - Get matched with an advisor: a borrower with no advisor can choose "I don't have an advisor: match me with one" under the same results, give a first name, email and state (phone optional) and check a consent box. The request and the estimate go to one financial advisor who uses Finology Software, has an active paid subscription and has turned on borrower leads: first an advisor who serves the borrower's state, then an advisor who works anywhere in the US. The borrower gets one email with that advisor's name, firm and contact details. When no advisor is available yet, the borrower is told so, matched as soon as one is, and the request is deleted after 30 days if still unmatched. These two controls appear only on Finology Software's own pages, not on calculators that subscribers embed on their sites. - [RAP payment schedule by income](https://finology.tech/rap-payment-schedule-by-income/): The Repayment Assistance Plan's 1% to 10% bands applied to full AGI, less $50 a month per dependent, never under $10 a month, with worked pages for AGI from $30,000 to $200,000 (for example https://finology.tech/rap-payment-60000-salary/: single, no dependents, $250.00 a month). Each page shows 0 to 4 dependents, married filing jointly vs separately, and the 10-year Standard plan, computed by the Finology Software engine. ## For AI agents and developers - [For AI agents (hub)](https://finology.tech/agents/): How an AI agent calls the verified engine: free local MCP server (npx @finology/mcp-server), the free remote MCP server (https://mcp.finology.tech/free, streamable HTTP; a free Finology Software login, no credit card: 5 questions in total, no daily limit; a subscriber's login also sees its own clients there, the connector listed in the Claude Connectors Directory), the keyed remote MCP server, the REST API, the instant sandbox key, what is warranted and what is estimated, and the machine-readable discovery files. All self-serve; a 30-minute call is available if you want one. - [Finology Software in ChatGPT](https://chatgpt.com/plugins/plugin_asdk_app_6abbf32753248191a0dbf90da0f2a5b6): The same engine as a ChatGPT plugin, listed in the ChatGPT plugin directory. Type @Finology Software in ChatGPT. Calculator tools need a free Finology Software login (no credit card; 5 questions in total, no daily limit); subscribers link their login to work with their own clients. Announcement: https://finology.tech/finology-software-in-chatgpt/ - [Finology Software in GitHub Copilot and Copilot Studio](https://finology.tech/finology-software-in-microsoft-copilot/): The same engine in Copilot, on the server https://mcp.finology.tech/free. GitHub Copilot works on its free plan: copilot mcp add --transport http finology https://mcp.finology.tech/free, then sign in with a free Finology Software login (no credit card; 5 questions in total, no daily limit); GitHub Copilot in Visual Studio Code uses the same address and sign-in. Firms on Microsoft 365 can add it to a Copilot Studio agent: the tool connects and signs in with a Finology Software login, and running the agent uses the firm's Copilot credits. A subscriber's login sees their own clients on the same address. - [Verified engine MCP server](https://mcp.finology.tech/mcp): A Model Context Protocol server over the same parity-verified federal student-loan engine advisors use, so an assistant calls the engine instead of doing the math itself. Tools: run_projection (one plan), compare_scenarios (2 to 10 side by side), get_eligible_plans, get_plan_types. Streamable HTTP, authenticated with an X-Api-Key header or a Finology Software sign-in (OAuth, which is how Claude, ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot connect). Every answer carries the rule version behind it and citations to the primary source for each constant, and every call is recorded against the key that made it. Listed in the official MCP registry as tech.finology/verified-engine. - [Get a sandbox key instantly](https://finology.tech/developers/): POST to https://api.finology.tech/v1/keys/sandbox with {"email":"you@example.com"} and a sandbox key comes back immediately: 25 calls a month, valid 30 days, working on both the REST API and the MCP server. Production access is self-serve too: Developer at https://buy.stripe.com/4gM7sKaa51aigdq1mCaZi02 ($49 a month, 2,000 calls) or Platform at https://buy.stripe.com/28E4gy3LHf188KYd5kaZi01 ($499 a month, 100,000 calls), cancel any time, and the production key arrives by email the moment payment clears. An agent can collect the production key itself: after the operator pays with the sandbox key's email, POST https://api.finology.tech/v1/keys/claim with {"sandboxKey": "..."} returns it once (no mailbox in the loop). Manage or cancel at https://billing.stripe.com/p/login/dRmcN46XTg5cd1eaXcaZi00. - [Pay per use for agents](https://finology.tech/auth.md): an AI agent can buy 20 engine calls for $0.50 by itself. POST https://api.finology.tech/v1/keys/pack; the 402 response carries a Machine Payments Protocol (MPP) challenge in WWW-Authenticate; answer it with a Stripe Shared Payment Token and the key comes back in the response, good for 20 calls within 90 days, on the REST API and the MCP server. - [Public REST API](https://finology.tech/developers/): The same engine over REST, with projection, comparison and plan-eligibility endpoints. Calculation only: every figure travels in the request, no stored client data is read, and no personal data is accepted or returned. - [Developers](https://finology.tech/developers/): How access works, what each tool does, and what the engine will and will not answer. - [2026 Gave Student Loan Borrowers Better Options. Here Is How to Put Them in Your Product.](https://finology.tech/student-loan-changes-2026-planning-platforms/): For planning platforms: what changed on July 1, 2026 (RAP, tiered Standard, plan menus by loan date, borrowing limits, tax at forgiveness) and what a product can show for each. - [What Makes a Student Loan Answer Worth Trusting](https://finology.tech/what-makes-a-student-loan-answer-worth-trusting/): For planning platforms: six traits of a trustworthy student loan answer, including stating the income a payment uses (the community-property split for married borrowers filing separately). - [auth.md](https://finology.tech/auth.md): Authentication and registration, written to be read by humans and agents alike. - [API and MCP Terms of Service](https://finology.tech/api-terms/): The agreement governing programmatic use of the engine: license and restrictions (no reverse engineering, no model training on Outputs, no resale of access), enforcement, keys, tiers and billing, data, and the nature of Outputs as estimates rather than advice. - A keyless package, npx @finology/mcp-server, is also published for a first look. It reaches the same engine, but its answers are not attributed to a caller, not metered, and carry no citations or rule version. Use a key for anything you intend to rely on. ## For members of professional associations - [NCAG members](https://finology.tech/ncag-student-loan-software/): For National College Affordability Group members (CPAs, CFPs, RIAs, educational consultants, counselors): Parent PLUS paths and every repayment plan; NCAG members get 25% off their first year through January 31, 2027 (ask NCAG or email info@finology.tech). - [NICCP members and CCPS planners](https://finology.tech/niccp-ccps-student-loan-software/): From the 2026-27 Student Aid Index to the loan payment; NICCP member rate $74.25 a month or $66.75 a month billed annually. - [CCFC holders](https://finology.tech/ccfc-student-loan-software/): For Certified College Financial Consultants (AICCFC): compare every plan on the client's real loan file, including RAP and PSLF; CCFCs get 10% off. - [Student Loan Help Network](https://finology.tech/student-loan-help-network-software/): For advisors trained in student loan advising: run every plan on a real client file; 7-day free trial. ## Research and data - [The State of RAP, October 2026](https://finology.tech/state-of-rap-2026/): De-identified aggregates from the federal loan (NSLDS) files of 1,899 advisor-served borrowers: median open federal balance $89,549, 72.8% owe more than they originally borrowed, and the estimated RAP payment (median $892 a month) is lower than the 10-year Standard payment (median $1,452) for 67.1% of borrowers with an income on file; also loan types, plans on file since July 4, 2025, and PSLF progress.
