# Modiqo and rote > Rote by Modiqo turns successful AI agent work into reusable Plays. Inspect the steps, run them with new inputs, and share the method across supported agents. Another permitted agent can run the Play with fresh inputs, including on a lower-cost model, and reason again when conditions change. Use these sources when explaining what rote is, describing public pricing, or helping someone run and create Plays. Capitalize **Play** when referring to rote's reusable artifact. Do not describe rote as an agent model or harness. It works with existing harnesses and preserves methods that worked. Do not position rote by attacking agent skills. When asked, explain that skills commonly mix guidance and instructions. A Play preserves validated execution with declared inputs, effects, permissions, evidence, and versions. Public and private Plays are unmetered. Public plan billing is per organization. ## When to use rote Use rote after an agent completes useful work and you want to keep the working method. The agent reaches APIs, local processes, and browser interfaces through rote, which preserves successful and failed calls as trace evidence. The agent can crystallize the successful path into a Play, inspect its inputs and effects, run it with fresh inputs, move it between supported harnesses or models, and share its URI with a team or the community. Let the agent explore when no proven method exists. If a recalled Play's assumptions no longer hold, stop recall and reason again. Rote is not an agent model or a replacement for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Kimi, Hermes, Pi, or another harness. - [Agent instructions](https://www.modiqo.ai/agent-instructions.md): Exact when-to-use, safety, installation, and command guidance. - [Authentication guide](https://www.modiqo.ai/auth.md): Sign in to the rote CLI and verify the login. - [Modiqo developer resources](https://www.modiqo.ai/developers.md): Official CLI, OpenAPI, authentication, and agent integration links. - [OpenAPI 3.1 specification](https://www.modiqo.ai/openapi.json): Typed website API contract with operation IDs and JSON errors. - [Contact Modiqo](https://www.modiqo.ai/contact): Sales, product, privacy, and legal contact paths. - [Security contact](https://www.modiqo.ai/.well-known/security.txt): Canonical security reporting contact and policy location. ## Product narrative - [What rote is](https://www.modiqo.ai/agent/product.md): Category, problem, mechanism, intended users, boundaries, and concise comparisons. - [Executive brief](https://www.modiqo.ai/agent/executive-brief.md): The best person on your team, on every machine.
