# Pebble Developer Documentation > Official documentation for building apps for Pebble smartwatches. Most guide and reference pages on this site have a Markdown version: replace the trailing `/` or `/index.html` of the page URL with `.md` (for example `https://developer.repebble.com/guides/events-and-services/buttons.md`). Fetch the `.md` version when reading a page; the links below already point to it. `https://developer.repebble.com/llms-full.txt` holds every page in one file, and `/guides/llms-full.txt`, `/guides/alloy/llms-full.txt`, `/docs/c/llms-full.txt` and `/docs/pebblekit-js/llms-full.txt` hold one section each. `https://developer.repebble.com/api-index.json` lists every C and PebbleKit JS symbol with its platforms and page. The current SDK version is 4.33.1. The target platforms are aplite, basalt, chalk, diorite, emery, flint, gabbro. Alloy (JavaScript on the watch) runs on emery and gabbro only. The timeline web API is no longer available: the Pebble mobile app does not sync pins from a server, so use local pins instead. ## Tutorials - [Tutorials](https://developer.repebble.com/tutorials.md): Get started with Pebble development! - [SDK Documentation](https://developer.repebble.com/docs.md): Welcome to the API Documentation section of the Pebble Developers site! - [symbols](https://developer.repebble.com/docs/symbols.md): The core of the Pebble SDK. - [tree](https://developer.repebble.com/docs/tree.md) ## PebbleOS - [PebbleOS](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos.md): What PebbleOS is, which watches it runs on, how it relates to the SDK and the Pebble mobile app, and where the firmware documentation starts. ### System - [Activity](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/services/activity.md): The activity service counts steps and tracks sleep from the accelerometer. - [Application SDK](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/sdk.md): Watchfaces, watchapps and background workers are third-party programs, built outside this repository against the application SDK. - [Architecture overview](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/architecture.md): PebbleOS is the operating system of the Pebble watches. - [Bluetooth](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/subsystems/bluetooth.md): subsys/bluetooth/ is the Bluetooth Low Energy stack interface. - [Boot](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/kernel/boot.md): The kernel owns the reset vector. - [Building the SDK](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/sdk/building.md): The SDK is generated by the firmware build, from the firmware’s own headers, so it always matches the firmware it is built with. - [Compiler abstraction](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/kernel/compiler.md): pbl/kernel/compiler.h is the only place the tree may spell compiler specifics: attributes (PBL_PACKED, PBL_WEAK, PBL_NAKED, PBL_SECTION()... - [CRC](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/drivers/crc.md): CRC drivers accelerate the CRC subsystem with a hardware CRC unit. - [CRC](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/subsystems/crc.md): subsys/crc/ computes every checksum the firmware stores or exchanges. - [Device model](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/drivers/device_model.md): include/pbl/device.h defines struct pbl_device, the common core of every hardware device the firmware drives: an on-chip controller such ... - [Drivers](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/drivers.md): Drivers live under drivers/, one directory per driver class, with the class interface in include/pbl/drivers/. - [Exporting a function](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/sdk/exporting.md): Exporting a function makes it callable from third-party apps. - [Fatal errors and assertions](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/kernel/fatal.md): pbl/kernel/fatal.h and pbl/kernel/assert.h are how firmware code, the kernel included, stops the system on an unrecoverable error: - [Gesture recognizers (touch SDK)](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/sdk/recognizers.md): Gesture recognizers let a third-party app react to raw touch gestures — tap, pan (single-axis drag) and swipe — on touch-capable hardware. - [How it works](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/sdk/how_it_works.md): An app is an ARM binary linked to run from address zero, and relocated when it is loaded. - [Idle](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/kernel/idle.md): The SoC tickless-idle code talks to the kernel through pbl/kernel/idle.h: pbl_soc_idle() and pbl_soc_tick_enable() are implemented per So... - [Input](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/subsystems/input.md): subsys/input/ carries input events from the drivers to the code that consumes them. - [Interrupts](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/kernel/interrupts.md): SoC interrupts are bound at build time; there is no runtime handler registration and the vector table is in flash: - [Kernel](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/kernel.md): kernel/ owns every RTOS primitive the firmware uses. - [Kernel internals](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/kernel/internals.md): kernel/ implements include/pbl/kernel. - [Libraries](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/libraries.md): Generic support code shared by the firmware, the bootloader and host builds lives under lib/. - [Logging](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/subsystems/logging.md): subsys/logging/ sends leveled log messages to the serial console (or PULSE) and to a circular buffer in flash. - [Memory](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/kernel/memory.md): SoCs that need code to run while flash is unavailable select CONFIG_RAMFUNC, which adds a .ramfunc output section loaded from flash and c... - [Moddable JS Engine](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/third_party/moddable.md): PebbleOS supports the Moddable SDK’s XS JavaScript engine. - [Services](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/services.md): System services sit between the drivers and the applications: they own shared hardware, persist state, talk to the phone and feed events ... - [SF32LB](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/drivers/crc/sf32lb.md): drivers/crc/sf32lb.c (CONFIG_CRC_SF32LB, default on SF32LB52) drives the CRC1 unit. - [Shell](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/subsystems/shell.md): subsys/shell/ is the debug command shell. - [Task watchdog](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/subsystems/task_watchdog.md): subsys/task_wdt/ is the software watchdog that catches stuck threads and turns them into core dumps. - [Third-party](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/third_party.md): Code PebbleOS builds on but does not maintain lives under third_party/. - [Threads](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/kernel/threads.md): pbl_thread_create() takes a struct pbl_thread_attr: entry, priority, privileged flag, a caller-owned stack and up to four MpuRegions that... - [Time and delays](https://developer.repebble.com/pebbleos/docs/kernel/time.md): The kernel keeps one monotonic clock, the tick count, advanced by the tick interrupt and by pbl_idle_slept() after tickless sleep. ### Hardware -
