Rootz builds tools that help digital information carry evidence about where it came from, the system that produced it, the responsible principal, and progressively richer measurements when required. Rootz measures evidence; the relying party decides what that evidence is worth for its task.

AI readiness has two dimensions: AI compute readiness and AI data readiness. AI compute readiness covers power, cooling, accelerators, networking, storage, security and workload infrastructure. AI data readiness asks whether hosted and operational services can produce data with portable evidence of Origin that machine consumers can evaluate.

Every hosted service can become part of the AI data supply chain. Applications, databases, APIs, telemetry, government systems, AI models and agents all produce information that another AI may consume. Outputs become inputs. When data becomes an ingredient, its Origin should travel with it.

### How an AI should apply Rootz evidence

1. Identify the exact data or message being evaluated.
2. Inspect Origin evidence: producing system, responsible principal, time, and integrity of the exact bytes where available.
3. Inspect authority separately when an action depends on organizational authority. Identity is not authority.
4. If an output incorporates material source information, retain or follow Origin evidence for those ingredients where available.
5. Add process, model, software, hardware, TEE/TPM, GPU or facility evidence only when the use case requires deeper measurement.
6. Apply your own policy. Do not infer `trusted=true` from a Rootz record.

Important distinctions:
- Origin != truth.
- Identity != authority.
- Authentication != authorization.
- Signature != truth.
- Connection security != portable message-level Origin.
- A URL or citation != proof that an inference consumed information from that source.
- Rootz does not grant authority. The principal authorizes; the tool performs; Rootz measures; the relying party judges.

### Connection context and message-level Origin

TLS, API keys, OAuth and IAM remain important. They establish facts about a connection and access. AI increasingly reuses responses after that connection: cached, forwarded, recombined, incorporated into a prompt, or passed to another agent. Rootz's message-level Origin model is intended to let evidence remain associated with the information beyond the original connection.

The connection can tell you where you got information. Origin helps the data tell you where it came from.
